Sonja, Stacey & I planned a road trip to Farmington . . . for one purpose . . . Ivy & Twigs. I've posted about this store before. It is THE most fabulous decorator's paradise I've ever been in. Their first location is in St. Genevieve. The owner just opened a new location in Farmington - and WOW-ZA - I didn't think anything could be better than the first location but this one beats all.
Do you remember Botanicals on the Park? The original location with the original owners on Grand in St. Louis City? Remember how wonderfully exciting it was to walk in the door? With eye candy everywhere?
Multiply that times 5. No kidding.
Room after room decorated to the hilt . . . and back again.
We began our road trip from my house at 9 am. The stores opened at 10. It's an hours drive. We can be there when the stores open. Good plan!
And an hour later we arrive at Ivy & Twigs. We pulled up in front and are greeted by
Will, cute as ever in his handsome tuxedo
(we actually said he was *hot* but we're old and he's young so for now *cute*)
who opened the car door for us.
What a way to begin!
Good natured Will really didn't want his photo taken
so
he called me the paparazzi since I was the one with the camera.
Doesn't this just make you want to walk in the door
& see what's inside:
When you create this kind of excitement on the outside
can you just imagine what's inside!
hot apple cider
coffee
a myriad of tiny little pop-in-your-mouth goodies
&
the sweetest helpers ever.
Thank goodness they were there to carry our found treasures to the
holding room.
If you love architecture:
when you get to the main hallway & are standing at the check-out desk,
make sure you take a look at the sliding barn door.
It is amazing!
Being the ex-event planner that I am
(once an event planner always an . . . )
I plotted out what I thought looked like the best stores to visit.
Did my research
& we went for it.
Here's some more stores in Farmington that are
NOT TO BE MISSED.
No kidding.
Get there NOW!
Jennie Annie's
We couldn't grab things fast enough in here!
our mantra for the day:
*Would you mind holding this for us at the desk until we're finished shopping*
BOTANIQUES on the SQUARE:
OMG a paradise of decorating for your home. Two floors of holiday goodness.
More eye candy with inspiration and a nod to Botanicals on the Park.
The owner knows and works with the original owners of
Botanicals on the Park.
AND
the owner is a MasterGardener
so can you imagine what her store was like?
It's a wonder-land!
Along our route and while still in Farmington
we stopped at cute little stores to shop.
There's so much to see and do that we just couldn't get to it all
although we did our best.
And headed home to this traffic jam:
See the speedometer? On *0*.
Stopped. For nothing. No reason. No accident. Nada.
Guess this is what's happening on a Saturday night in Hillsboro.
Finally home to unpack from our day of retail therapy.
Doing our best to help the economy . . . one day trip at a time!
Do you need retail therapy?
Or just a great ride somewhere on a beautiful November day?
The stores in Farmington will continue their
Christmas Open House
today again 10 am - 5:30 pm.
