Today, the big boat . . .

ExplorerOfTheSeas03

Woo Hoo!

We're ready to sail past this beautiful lady.

Edward-moran-statue-liberty

I've had the chance to sail past her once before

and it is a sight to behold.

When you are in a cruise ship

several stories high

and face to face with her

it is enough to bring tears to your eyes.

So grateful for freedom.

Our day in NYC . . .

Ground Zero is a must-see for us today:

Ground-zero

and I'm sure shopping is also in the forecast.

Stacey and I are staying at a hotel near Times Square so we can also walk to the Garment District and the Theatre District . . .

. . . and then there's Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the stock exchange.

How are two girls supposed to decide?

Write in campaign . . .

I'm on a mission

to get Tammy to teach this at For Keeps Sake:

TTT

You have to go here to see all the detail in this one piece

AND PLEASE

while you're there, leave a comment about how much you want Tammy to teach this at For Keeps Sake.  It's my own little *write in* campaign.

and one more thing Tammy . . .

would you please check my personal work and travel schedule so I can sit in on this class . . .

not that I want special treatment or anything . . . ; )

Love your work Tammy.  Always have.  Always will.

Simon Says . . . Distress & Sand

It's Monday and that means another challenge at Simon Says Stamp & Show blog (sponsored by Simon Says Stamp).  This week's challenge is all about distressing and sanding.

And since I'm in the mood for Halloween, I thought I'd do a Halloween chunky with the fabulous Crafty Secrets ephemera.

I so love working with chunky ATC's! The base is a piece of wood that measures 2.5" x 3.5", sanded with a Tim Holtz sanding block then stained with Pitch Black Dabbers. Background papers are applied after using the Tonic Edge Distresser on each. The six sides of the ATC are then decorated with Crafty Secrets Double Sided Creative Scraps (I LOVE THESE!!!!!) Finish off with *legs* of some sort: here I used some antique bottles filled with Martha Stewart glitter and labels made from Crafty Secrets stamps.

Chunky ATC 2

and it's all ready for your bookshelf!

Visit the rest of the Simon Says Stamp & Show team

And enter the challenge for a chance to win a fabulous prize!

IF you live out of town . . .

and

can't make it in to St. Louis for the 6" x 12" Graphic 45 Halloween book class

I will be offering kits to the out-of-towners

complete with written directions (and colored photos).

More *Grunge* . . .

Since we're on a *grunge* theme at Simon Says Stamp & Show this week, I've gone into the old archives for a blast from the past.  Some of you may remember this layout:

Grunge Tree 1

Here's a close-up of the tree I made out of

Tim Holtz Christmas stamps

and

Grungeboard swirls

Grunge Tree 2

Added snow and "lights" to the grungeboard for an

old-fashioned looking tree.

New Challenge . . . Your Grunge

Simon Says Stamp & Show challenge this week is all about grunge: Grungeboard; Grungepaper; grungy looking . . . it's your call.

I've been wanting to create a Grungepaper journal for a while and this challenge was the catalyst! The cover is made with Grungepaper inked with Distress Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge  and Walnut Stain then finished with Claudine Hellmuth's Matte Medium. A few of the Idea-ology Trinkets round things out.

Grungepaper Journal 1

Grungepaper/board amazes me.

Don't know what it's made of

however

when this journal is complete

you won't be able to tell it's anything but leather.

It has the look, feel and smell (?) of leather.

Grungepaper Journal 2

Thanks to the sponsor of this challenge

WOYWW . . .

Have you ever played along with any of the blogs that want to see your work space?

This week I'm playing along with WOYWW = What's On Your Workspace Wednesday

except I'm a day late

and probably a dollar short too!

And if you're too young to remember that expression, please don't tell me.

I'm playing along this week

because

I finally have all my stamps cleaned from this week's classes

WOYWW 1

(stamping station & cutting station cleaned off - check)

and put away

WOYWW 3

(work table cleaned off - check - hey, this is as clean as it gets!)

and ready to start a new project.
