27 years later and I still can't believe what a gift you've been to us. Thank you for being our son.

This week's challenge . . .

at Simon Says Stamp & Show is to create something using a Tim Holtz inspired technique.

Here in St. Louis, the temperatures have been near 100 degrees, so I couldn't help but think of the *dog days of summer*, swimming pools, staying cool . . . you get the idea.

This project began with a #8 manilla tag embossed with one of the folders from Playing Games. Adding Wild Honey Distress Ink, the tag was finished off with an image from Graphic 45's On The Boardwalk captured under a fragment painted with caramel alcohol ink, keeping the center clear so the image would show through.

I added a grungeboard swirl, fishing net held down with a tiny attacher, a seashell and a miscellaneous sunglass charm to finish off the tag.

Here's what I created for the G45/Want2Scrap Hop:

  
I was thinking about all the kids who will be off to college, studying all over the world, experiencing cities, classes and travel they will never forget. This project began with a Want2Scrap Grand Album Chipboard - Labels One
that I took apart and decorated with Graphic 45 papers.

Here's what the individual panels look like:

 

In the first panel, I cut a 5"x5" window. After backing the window with a transparency, the front of this panel was covered with Graphic 45 Le Circque Circus Parade and the back with Renaissance Faire Enlightened.  Using the Idea-ology Ornamental die, I cut the ship from Transatlantique Bon Voyage and centered that in the front panel.  The Want2Scrap chipboard embellishments were put through a Sizzix embossing folder.  I then painted them with Modern Masters Metallic Gold.  As you can see in this close-up, each panel was hooked to the other with Graphic 45 Staple Hinges and then connected to Tim Holtz Swivel Clasps.

 
The front of this panel was wallpapered with Renaissane Faire Triumphant and decorated with embellishments from Transatlantique Around The World and Transatlantique Tags.  To pinpoint each place in Europe visited, I used Want2Scrap self-adhesive pearls.  The back of this panel was covered with Le Cirque Under The Big Top.

 
The third and fourth panels celebrate two of my favorite cities in Europe.

After covering this panel with Transatlantique Paris Post, I die-cut a photo mat using Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles.  A small tag was hung from a Graphic 45 Staples Button and then decorative tags were added here and there from the Transatlantique Tag die-cut paper.  The back of this panel was covered with Renaissance Faire Awakening
 

This last panel was wallpapered using Le Cirque Magnifique.  After die-cutting another photo mat with Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles, I used Graphic 45 Envelope Tag Staples and a die-cut tag from Communique Collection to round out this piece and anchored it with a piece of Idea-ology film strip tape. To dress up the envelope and draw attention to the journaling, I added Want2Scrap Nestabling to the envelope.  The back of this panel was covered with Domestic Goddess My Pretty Garden.

posting personal things on this blog.  Today, I am making an exception.

For those of you at For Keeps Sake that know Jane Ortyl, she has a new grandbaby that needs lots of prayers.

Just a little somethin' somethin' . . .

I created this week for Simon Says Stamp & Show Challenge Blog where the challenge is TAGS.

The first thing I did to this tag was to use a lace doily mask and fill it in with Golden Molding Paste.  You can barely see it to the left of the flower.  It was added to give the background some texture.

This beautiful Penny Black Butterly Suite stamp came into my life (!) and it was perfect on the tag.  The image contains not only the flower but the music background and the butterflies. Gorgeous!

 

Using Copic Markers, I colored in the image and the butterflies. Coloring with Copics on tags works great - no bleeding of colors on that cardstock!  I stamped the butterflies a second time, colored and cut-out then adhered them to the tops of the first butterflies so they appeared to fly.

Needing ito add embellishments to the tag, I chose Spellbinders Parisian die cut. It was inked with Tim Holtz Faded Jeans and Scattered Straw Distress Ink for that nostalgic look.  I added a few things from my stash i.e., the little *beauty* tag, the embellishment in the center of the Spellbinders die, the lace and the silver embellishments in the upper right corner.
