On the road again . . .

or at least planning to. There are 7 of us heading for Springfield MO for a mini-crop-getaway. And.we.can't.wait!

Looking forward to tons of fun and photos!

RT1

A while back,

I found this blank chipboard album at Tuesday Morning.

RT2

See the binding with the 7 Gypsies name?

Perfect for the 7 of us traveling together.

I gathered a bunch of my fave travel papers,

covered the album front and back

and

created the inside pages.

RT3

Lots of layering on the cover

RT4

and interactive pages on the inside.

The base of each page is heavy cardstock.

RT5

Love the use of belly bands

but . . .

feel the need to somehow stop the inserts from falling all the way through.

So I try to create some kind of *ledge* for the inserts.

This one (pack your bags), is a folded piece of paper

so that the insert falls between the folds.

RT6

Took a bunch of small file folders,

stitched them together

and decorated the front.

I now have room for 6 photos on this page alone.

RT7

Another belly band with an insert.

This time I found these fab arrows at

DeeDee Catron's store, UmWow Studio.

You can see them here:

http://umwowstudio.com/100028.html

Since the arrows are cut from chipboard

they're thick enough to stop the insert.

RT8

Wish I would have hung something from the arrow.

The pages on the left fold up and down

and are secured to the page with magnets.

I.cannot.get.enough.magnets.

The left page is another belly band.

This time I secured the inserts with an arrow

that is magnetized and slips around the side of the page.

All that's left to do now is decide what to take to work on.

I should have enough time to pare down what to bring.

Famous last words - right?

Uber-Talented Karen Higgins . . .

Some of you may remember Karen from For Keeps Sake store. Karen is a super-talented bookmaker who's creations I adore. Her attention to detail is beyond anything I've ever seen. When she would bring her stitched books into For Keeps Sake, it was a pleasure to pour over every little detail. Her work is impeccable.

Karen now has a website (woohoo!) called

Karen's Vintage Graphics

The art work is gorgeous! And the best part is that you can download the Graphics for your own personal use. For a very nominal cost, you can get a Library Card Set, a To Do List Card Set, a Coffee Tea Card Set or many more. Each one is gorgeous.

Check out Karen's video to see what she created with her graphics:

Happy Valentine's Day . . .

We normally don't make a big deal out of Valentine's Day at our house. Exchange of cards is usually what we do. Maybe out for dinner the night before. That's about it.

But this year, my valentine of over 42 years made something for me that just blew me away:

Bill first set this enormous wood box in front of me.

I could tell it was hand made and it was pretty cool

and I was already thinking about what I could store in it.

He told me to open it and when I did

the box was lined in red felt.

I turned the felt back and found this:

V1

It was an amazing wood heart and stand.

The heart is about 9" tall and 11.5" wide at the widest point.

The best part is he made it.

Carved it from basswood, sanded, stained and finished it.

Including the stand!

VB

On the side was a tiny knob.

When I opened it, I found this:

V4

A tiny cart filled with my blog logo

(with a slight twist on the words),

birds, ladybug, wheels that turn and much more.

V3

Even the license plate he made has meaning to us.

V2

He made every single little thing on this cart.

V5

It's so wonderful and something I'll treasure forever.
