For those of you new to my Lunch Bunch classes, these are all-day classes that include lunch at Quizno's (just up the street from For Keeps Sake). We have a lot of fun in these creative sessions where you finish a project in a day.
Here's what I have planned for October:
Monday, October 5: 10:30 am - 5 pm: FAMILY Album
Thursday, October 22: 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
Cards in the morning
Lunch
Jewelry in the afternoon.
I am most excited about this class. I have been trying to get these little frozen Charlottes (frozen because their arms and legs do not move) from Germany and finally, they've arrived! Frozen Charlottes are sweet china (bisque) dolls that were popular childhood toys more than a century ago. Commonly called "penny dolls", frozen Charlottes grew in popularity thanks to their cost - one cent - allowing children to collect a number of dolls with which to play. They are sometimes referred to as "bathing dolls" because they were occasionally made with a glazed china front and a stoneware back, allowing them to float in the bath water. (More history about these little beauties will be given in class.)
These are from a "dig" in Germany - from a defunct doll factory in Thuringen, Germany. Can you tell I'm excited about getting these!
Here's how they came to me:
I love that they're still a bit dirty and roughed up from the dig!
Makes them more authentic.
And here's what I've done with them:
We'll make 3 pieces of jewelry in the afternoon
(all 3 are different designs
with 2 including the antique frozen Charlottes)
and greeting cards in the morning.
Lunch at Quizno's in between.
Hope you can join me!
