There is no better way to spend a beautiful Saturday than to spend it at a flea market. And that's just what Sonja, Stacey and I did yesterday. The weather was perfect and so was the flea market. My students/friends told me about this one: Belle-Clair Flea Market in Belleville IL. We spent the day there. Opened at 9 am and we were there when it opened.
Here's a few of my finds, most begging to be altered:
Teeny bottles and pen nibs in their original box:
Photo 2: Brand new deck of cards. Great for ATC's, journal cards or . . .
Photo 3: Bill's getting home today from a two week fishing trip to Montana. Think this book titled "The Big Fisherman" will have to be altered for his trip photos! The tiny baby spoon has a "W" engraved on it. Just couldn't let that one stay behind!
Photo 4: Tin fans. Ooohhh. A "frog" and a bulldog clip. This bulldog clip opens to reveal a calendar.
Photo 5: I used to work for Brown Shoe Company (eeeeeeeons ago) for the guy who designed shoes for the Miss America line. Remember those? Anyway, this is the 2nd shoe last I purchased. This one is even cooler than the first. See the spring in between the vamp (that's shoe talk) and the heel? I'll do mini-altered books about my jobs (starting with my first job at Brown Shoe) and place the mini-books upright along the spring.
Photo 6: Great little box (and only $2), perfect for Bill's hunting photos. Look at those hand-made corners!
So we ended the day with:
- Brand new 600 count bed sheets: 1 fitted, 1 regular and 4 pillow cases. Any size: standard; queen; king for $20 each and that's per set! Lots of colors to choose from.
- Homemade pumpkin bread and relish from the Amish.
Gotta love flea markets!
Fabulous finds!!! Would love to see what you do with the fans. :)
