You may have read one of my previous posts that said I was a Design Team member for a new site, Frosted Designs. This site is technique driven (woo hoo!) with weekly challenges where you can win prizes.
Here's the first sample challenge that I created for
Frosted Designs:
This week's technique: Use ink or chalk on a project.
This door hanger measures approximately 7" tall x 6.5" wide. I used a Melissa Frances Bingo card inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy, Black Soot and Orange Marmalade). The Melissa Frances Bingo cards are part of a ring-bound book, but can easily be separated into individual cards.
Used Tim Holtz Seasonal Grungeboard for the haunted house, lantern, pumpkin and black cat. Inked cat with Black Soot and then stamped faux writing and heat embossed with Ranger's black embossing powder. Inked house with Orange Marmalade and Black Soot Distress Ink. Stamped a wrought iron fence at the bottom of the house and heat embossed using Ranger's black embossing powder.
Painted the lamp with Juniper Adirondack Dabber and then inked over that with Brushed Corduroy, Weathered Wood and Black Soot Distress Ink to (hopefully) create a patina brass look. Positioned the lamp to frame the "31" on the Bingo card. Painted in the numbers "31" with Copic Markers and added Rock Candy Stickles on top for shimmer.
Glittered the windows, pumpkin and bat with Stickles. Added "jeweled" eyes and hung the entire Bingo card with Tim Holtz clips and ribbon.

Second sample made for Frosted Designs:
This is my friend Sonja who has the very best Halloween costumes I've ever seen. Honestly, we're best friends and one year her costume was so good I didn't even recognize her! Each year she dresses up (makes her own costumes) and loves every minute of it - and so do we!
I love the look of one large photo per layout, but in reality we all have more than 1 photo we need/want to scrap. So I usually try to tuck photos in somewhere else. In this layout I used a 7 Gypsies paper bag inked with Brushed Corduroy. Created 3 mats and tabs out of My Mind's Eye paper and inserted those into the 7 Gypsies bag to create space for more photos and journaling.
Here's what I used:
- My Mind's Eye papers inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Black Soot, Brushed Corduroy & Scattered Straw.
- My Mind's Eye overlay
- Prima jeweled swirlys
7 Gypsies paper bag inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy)
Miscellaneous black fringe
Miscellaneous bottle filled with Ranger's Butterscotch and Rust Alcohol Inks
