Long time no blog . . .

at least for me.  I try to get something printed here at least 4 times each week, but lately I've been remiss.  Still working on the latest mini-book.  When all is said and done it will probably have about 75 photos.  All small.  All cropped.  All with stories . . .

because how can you look at pictures of your kids

and

not tell the story of

how adorable they were are

how much you love them

and not only what they must have been thinking at the time of the photo

but what you were thinking

(and yes, the good with the bad!)

If you must hide your writing, then do so.

But don't stop journaling and telling the stories

for generations to come.

Your great-grandkids will love you for it!

Calling all Domestic Goddesses . . .

FINALLY received the Bingo books from Melissa Frances and the Domestic Goddess class is ON!

Here's what we're doing:

Originally, this mini-book was on the schedule for December.

But alas, Melissa ran out of her fab Bingo books.

We had to postpone until they were printed shipped again

(which just happened).

IF you saw the sample at For Keeps Sake

you know I had some Christmas, Fall and Thanksgiving stampings

included in the original sample.

No worries. 

I'll have other stamps appropriate for almost any occassion.

 

This is a perfect gift for a new bride (think bridal shower)

your daughter-in-law

your mother-in-law

(Mother-In-Law day is October 23)

or use this Thanksgiving for a hostess gift.

(How nice would it be to have something done in advance!)

Add your own family recipes for a keepsake.

 

This is an all day class so please

We'll start class at 10:30 am.

• Basic supplies

In addition, I used the following to enhance my book:

• Distress Inks: brown, black, green, blue and red
• Paper piercer
• Crop-a-dile
• Red line tape
• Deckle edge scissors
• Small scallop scissors
• Black gel pen
• Clear Spica pen

I also used blue and green Copic Markers to color in some of my BINGO letters.  If you wish, this can be done at home after your book is complete.  If you'd like to complete this in class, you'll need 2 shades of blue and 2 shades of green.

Stamp Club Tomorrow . . .

CYI (Create Your Imagination) will meet at 6:30 pm tomorrow (Tuesday).  If I am counting correctly, those gals who are involved in the file folder swap should have some goodies for us to peruse!  Can't wait to see your creations.

Following CYI (around 7:15 pm) we'll start with Stamp Club. 

We're creating this very simple card that packs a WOW technique.

You'll need to bring basic supplies +

an iron (regular or craft)

VersaMark ink or Ranger Embossing Ink

Clear Embossing Powder

a few sheets of newspaper

and if you ordered the background stamp from

Hero Arts,

please bring a large acrylic square on which to mount the stamp.

 

I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink on my card:

Rusty Hinge and Wild Honey

You can use your favorite ink colors.

 

I also colored in the bird as a bluebird

(with any two colors of Copic blue colors).

You can color it in with your favorite colors of Copics.

You'll just need two values of the same color family.

 

Now back to planning next month's card using a Stampington image.

Using Tim Holtz Idea-ology pieces, we're making a chunky necklace just in time for Mother's Day. 

 

This class includes Tim Holtz Idea-ology pieces and 18" chain.

Please bring to class:

• needle nose pliers
• jewelry glue or E6000
• Tim Holtz Tonic Scissors
• craft pick (we'll need to poke teeny holes through chipboard)

Normal scrapbook supplies are NOT needed for this class.

You may want to add to your piece (and therefore BYO):

• small/teeny buttons you love
• beads you'd like to add such as pearls or specific colors of beads

Just another mini . . .

If you read my blog on a regular basis you know I'm into taking all my unused photos from 12x12 pages and putting them into mini-books.  Finished this one from a few leftover photos from Grant's Farm:

 

 

 

 

People have asked what I do with all the mini-books I make.  Some are in a big copper tub on the fireplace hearth.  Some are kept for special occassions.  For example at Easter, the Easter minis show up.  Someone's birthday - they have a birthday book or two that I set out.  Christmas - you got it!

Some are used as centerpieces on the dining room table - a good way to spark conversation and remember past events.  A few find spots on the bookshelves and on the coffee table.
