This was one of the toughest challenges yet.
I am a stamper/paper crafter therefore I collect. They go hand in hand. To date, I have amassed hundreds of stamps. Wood mounted, cling mounted, unmounted, clear . . . you name it, I have it. So how am I to choose just one favorite?!
I couldn't. So I picked a couple of mine that I really, really like and came up with this:
This card features a couple of my *go to* stamps. I started by choosing three patterned papers that would color coordinate. When mixing patterns, there's a good rule of thumb to follow: choose one large, one medium and one small pattern in the same color families. This almost always works for me.
Next I stamped the boy's image from Artistic Outpost Bluebird with Momento Cocoa ink. I love this stamp set . . . especially since I have a boy! Wanting his face to show up a bit more, I used bleach and a small paintbrush to lighten his face.
The banner was stamped onto the large pattern paper with Crafty Secrets Artsy Banner . This pattern paper already had lines running through it so I was careful to place those lines all across the top of the banner, resembling string. I cut that out and placed that at the top of the card with one at the bottom to help your eye flow through from top to bottom. The No.21 is also from the Crafty Secrets Artsy Banner and was stamped on a small square of the large pattern paper.
All images were stamped with Memento Cocoa ink. Edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Continueing with the scallop theme, I used a Spellbinders Scalloped Squares and die cut the medium patterned paper. To raise it up a bit, I also die cut a piece of grungepaper and placed it underneath the scalloped square.
Next was the Tattered Banners with the same large patterned paper used for the banner. A simple *happy birthday* sentiment completes the card.
