Not really. Only sort of.
This week's challenge is all about men.
My husband is all about the outdoors and so naturally I gravitated to an outdoor sport for my *man* project this week. Beginning with a simple piece of particle board, I painted it with a layer of Claudine Hellmuth Gesso. This not only gives the board some tooth but also allows me to use any medium on top of the gesso. It acts like a primer.
After creating a grid pattern on a scrap piece of paper, I layered pieces of leftover scrapbook paper on top of that using Claudine's Matte Medium. In between the pieces, I scribbled in some watercolor crayons to smudge the edges and finished off with Studio 490 shelves and Art For Men rubber stamps.
I added some 7 Gypsies and Karen Foster stickers and then put some flies that Bill tied in tiny tins and added those to the mix.
Hope you enjoyed my manly project. There's some amazing projects over at the Simon Says Stamp & Show Challenge Blog where you can enter your own *man* theme. You may be the person who is randomly chosen to win a $50 gift certificate from our generous sponsor

Nancy...Love your project..as always! It's really wonderful. I love the papers you used...especially the colors. Love the Wendy stamps on it also. The little flies in the tins is a really perfect embellishment. Your design is really striking. <3 Candy

Great piece, Nancy! I like how you've gridded it, but not with all same-size pieces. That 'fish' word makes me want to go pull out my crimper. The 'true story' piece cracked me up.

Wow, wow, wow! Nancy this is a sensational project. I really love your approach with creating the grids and then coloring between them with watercolor crayons - very cool technique. Really super texture and embellishments - especially the real flies! You really rocked this challenge!
Hope you have a great week.
Hugs,
Linda

You're such a fervent blogger, had to scroll to get here. I really love this piece and think the colour pallete is wonderful - the perfect mix of watery, fishy blues and manly tones. The tins are just the best! A great design idea Nancy!
