CYI girls . . .

Just found out yesterday that . . .

Vicki M

has been published in

Just Steampunk Magazine!

So excited for her! Vicki brought the magazine in to show us yesterday. FOUR FULL PAGES dedicated to her computer room and all the Steampunk things she created. If you visited her home last month, you know how amazing it is. And now anyone who buys the latest issue can see for themselves.

One more then back to work . . .

Playing along with Stamping Ground's WOYWW today and finishing up this 5.75" x 4.75" cabinet from Gina's Designs that holds 3 mini books. Gina made a teeny easel for me that will go on the top of the cabinet. Waiting for adhesive to dry and then I will paint it and add a metal frame with a photo. Need to gussie up those books as well.

Added a few hanging charms to the books and the easel is painted and distressed:

Kid in a candy store . . .

Gina of Gina's Designs brought all kinds of goodies for me to write directions for, work with and decorate and I felt like a kid in a candy store!

The CYI girls chose their favorite ATC cabinets and we are trading ATC's next month, based on the cabinet they chose. There are 3 designs: Dragonfly; Time; Steampunk/Travel. So far there are 8 ATC traders however, I'm keeping the trade list open until Friday, August 16 in case someone couldn't make it last night but still wants to trade. Here's who we have so far:

That's 8 so . . . if you chose the Steampunk cabinet, you would create 8 Steampunk ATC's. The Time cabinet = 8 time themed ATC's.

We sold out of some of Gina's Designs, but since Gina was in last night, they're already re-ordered, including the cabinet I posted on my blog Sunday:

They'll be back in stock next week. They went fast last night!

Sue B brought us patterns so we could do something with the pattern paper and empty Cricut Cartridge boxes.

September's challenge = alter a Cricut Cartridge box. If you need one, let me know. Carolyn K said she has some and is willing to share. Add a comment to this post letting us know you need one.

Gina brought a tiny banner kit for each person at CYI. One piece had straight edges and it fit on top of another piece with a scalloped edge. We decorated and Gina showed how to use Gelatos with her chipboard die cuts. So easy!

And me with no photos of last night. Ugh.

Don't know why but for some reason I feel as if I haven't seen you in forever. Maybe because I don't work the counter any more. Anxious to catch up with everyone.

In July, Jenny said she would be doing something with flowers this month. I haven't heard from her (summer is always busy for everyone) but please BYO basics just in case.

We also will have a special guest joining us tonight. Meet Gina of Gina's Designs. I've been working with her fabulous designs for the past month and I am in constant awe of what she does. Timi, Nancy N, Judy and I decided (in our weekly lunch meeting) that Gina should have been an engineer.

Bring your show-and-tell and let's plan our Fall meet-ups including any trades you're interested in.

Remember when I showed this amazing cabinet by

Gina's Designs?

This is not shown on Gina's Designs website yet

but I do think For Keeps Sake in St. Louis has some advance kits.

Just sayin'.

Finished decorating mine this weekend:

The frame is from a package of Kaisercraft embellishments.

I added ink, Stickles and bling to the frame.

Then took 3 of Gina's Designs butterflies,

painted them black

and then painted black Stickles on top.

Only the center of the butterflies were glued down

so that I could pop the wings up.

Since these butterflies are cut from heavy chipboard

there's no worry about breaking the wings.

The detailed doily is from Gina's Designs.

The center background as well as the butterfly is from

Kaisercraft embellishments pack

topped with an antique pen nib from my stash.

Love the old bottles that Bill & I found at an antique store.

I think this paper is from Creative Imaginations.

Copic Markers were used to color the image.

Loved the bird on this paper but he was pretty nondescript,

blending into the background.

Copic Marker coloring fixed that.

Hey CYI girls, remember when we altered keys.

Finally found a way to use some of mine.

Dontcha love the little figures printed on the paper!

This clothespin needed an embellishment.

After coloring one of Gina's butterflies,

it was glued onto a paper butterfly and then onto the clothespin.

Another somthin' somthin' I dug out of the archives.

This is an ATC of Amelia Earhart I did a while back.

Looks like my cabinet is taking on the theme

of flying and travel

(which shouldn't surprise anyone).

A postcard and Prima bling finished off the top.

So far this weekend . . .

It's no secret that I am in love with Gina's Designs and so very happy that For Keeps Sake in St. Louis is now carrying lots of her chipboard and hardboard cuts.

This morning, I was able to finish up 2 of Gina's Designs I've been working with. Here's one of them:

Remember this little Frozen Charlie?

At Timi's suggestion (thanks Timi), I used

Viva's Inka Gold Metallic Rub

on the leaves

(both Gold + Old Silver)

and it really highlighted those cuts.

This week I searched everywhere for a miniature rake

and finally found one at Schaefer's.

So now my little Garden Fairy can work in the garden.

Now he's all finished and ready for

show-and-tell

at

Tuesday's CYI.

Gina's Designs. For Keeps Sake recently received these amazing cabinets from Gina's Designs. Having just purchased some Kaisercraft and Bo Bunny papers, I decided to combine the two and decorate the cabinet with them. Not near finished though!
