December & January . . .

December schedule:

Taking a bit of a break from teaching workshops in December.  CYI gals: Christmas gathering on Tuesday, December 10 @ 6 pm. BYO fave appetizer or dessert to share as well as show-and-tells. If you decorated a frosty Christmas tree bottle, bring that to show please.

 

January schedule:

18 & 19: I posted a Travel Trunk that I designed with Gina's Designs. Fortunately it sold out in just one phone call. (Thanks Kansas City gals!)

If you're interested in taking this class, please call For Keeps Sake (314) 487-8131 and put your name on the waitlist. If I get enough people (and can get more supplies) I'll post another weekend workshop for the same trunk. It is a 2 day class so please keep that in mind. You might want to add your January weekend date preference (other than the 18th and 19th).

February:

The dates are not yet posted but just a little heads up: I will be teaching a mini-book to add to your travel trunk. I'll use the same beautiful papers from Marion Designs, We'll be constructing our own mini that will fit into one of the Travel Trunk compartments. Stay tuned!

Friday, November 29 . . .

After viewing photos from the Tim Holtz booth at CHA this past July, I fell in love with this Christmas themed box on wheels. Although this isn't exactly like the one in Tim's booth, it sure did give me inspiration!

Gina's Designs made the sturdy boxes for me and I've added paper, ephemera, a handle and the wheels. You'll get everything you need to finish yours like mine or byo ephemera if you want to make yours unique or showcase something meaningful to you.

• Beacon 3-in-1 glue or similar to put boxes together
• Your lunch (we'll take a 20" lunch break)
• I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to ink the paper edges.
• Inka Gold Metallic Rub - Gold or Silver (if you have it or you can use mine)
• Stamp edged scissors
• Washi Tape (We'll only use a little bit for the back of something. It won't show so bring any design you have or use some from me.)
• Baby wipes

An upcoming January class . . .

UPDATE: The dates will be Saturday & Sunday - January 18 & 19. Forgot to tell you that we have ordered handles for the travel trunk. My sample doesn't show them (yet) as they were on back order. They've been delivered and I will have them on the sample shortly.

 

Thought I'd give you a look at an upcoming January class. I still need to choose the weekend but I love this so much I have to share - right now!

It's a travel trunk!

Gina and I designed this to my specifications.

(I love that she lets me do that!)

Made of heavy chipboard, it's designed to last a lifetime.

It's 10" square and is 7.5" tall.

I will be using Marion Smith papers from her Up & Away collection.

Designed with compartments inside,

there's plenty of room for collections from your travels.

So here's the plan:

• This will be a 2 day weekend class in January. DATES: January 18 and 19: Saturday from 10:30 am - 4 pm and Sunday from 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm. 
• We will put together the entire trunk and decorate it with these beautiful papers.
• The class cost will be $50.
• You will need to bring basic supplies including Beacon 3-in-1 glue available at For Keeps Sake. A more detailed list will be posted on my blog closer to class.
• In February, I will offer a travel book made to fit into the largest compartment of this trunk and will use the same decorative papers. (This book will be a separate class. Cost of this book TBA.)

Weekend in Wisconsin . . .

What a weekend! Nancy N, Timi, Judy and I traveled to Delavan Wisconsin for a fabulous scrapbook weekend at Lake Lawn Resort. In all my travels, this was my first visit to Wisconsin and we couldn't have chosen a better resort. Lake Lawn is gorgeous. Take a look:

Lake Lawn had an upscale lodge feel with wooden beams lining the ceilings, fireplaces throughout the lodge (even in the indoor swimming pool!) and rocking chairs on the patios of each guest room. 

The bedrooms were beautiful and very large.

Judy and I even had a sitting area in our bedroom.

The interior design of each room reminded me of 

Ralph Lauren type look

with goose down feather coverlets on the beds.

There were several restaurants on the property including this

darling cafe *Isle of Capri*.

 

 

The Lookout Bar & Eatery had great views of the lake.

 

Here's the indoor pool.

The resort also has 2 outdoor pools,

a children's play room,

a workout room

a gift shop

and I'm sure I'm missing something

because this place had everything!

We didn't want to leave!

Oh yeah, we went there for a cropping weekend.

I worked on these projects:

and finally started on Beau & Lindsey's wedding pictures:

Great company, delicious food and cropping.

What more could a girl ask for.

Last night at CYI . . .

We made these gift card holders:

and decided that this month we would work on altered bottles. Sue brought a couple that she did and they were darling.  Topped with a bottle brush Christmas tree, one was done on a small antique bottle and one tiny tree topped a miniature perfume bottle. So . . . 

work on one this next month before the next meeting. It can be a bottle, a salt/pepper shaker, a perfume bottle or whatever your imagination comes up with. Bring them to the next CYI for show and tell.

is Create Your Imagination meet-up. It's free! BYO good things to share = what have you been working on this past month. Share ideas and show us your latest projects.

This month, we'll work on gift card holders.

Super easy to create! One piece of 12x12 will make 3 card holders.

Note: The finished size is 3.25" wide x 5" tall

BYO supplies:

• 1 piece 12x12 cardstock
• 1 piece 12x12 decorative paper
• 2 eyelets per card holder (or 6 total if you're making 3 card holders + a couple that may drop on the floor!)
• Crop-a-dile
• circle punch
• Decorative element or rubber stamp for the front
• String or ribbon to tie together
• Cutter; scissors; inks to match your paper; adhesive (tape runner will do for this)
• Stapler (I used Tim Holtz mini stapler)
