Shopping with friends can be dangerous. That's just what happened when four of us hit the dollar bins. We found some chalkboards and that led to a cover re-do on my Graphic 45 Typography mini book.
You might remember these from a previous post. We found these flip books and decided to do a layout a month with photos of us out and about . . . a friendship diary of sorts.
Well, I had the cover of my book finished (or so I thought), when Timi found these miniature chalkboards and decided it would look really cute on the cover of our books.
So I tore up my cover. Yes, it was securely glued down with Beacon 3-in-1 but never-the-less . . .
I started over
but I do love it with that chalkboard. We stained the wood frame with Wild Honey Distress Stain and then inked over that with Wendy Vecchi's Potting Soil Archival Ink. Lots of pop-dots and chipboard later . . .
This book is a graduated flip book. The small bottom section drops down to reveal the full cover (above).
The months of the year in black and gold are from a Lifestyle Crafts die. The arrow and reel are a Sizzix die cut (for Echo Park). The large ampersand is from Gina's Designs.
I first painted the ampersand in black acrylic and then stamped the letters/numbers with Versamark and embossed in clear embossing powder. Next it was over-painted with Claudine Hellmuth red paint. Once that dried, I buffed it using a bit of water and a soft rag which took the paint off the embossing (a resist). It was finished with Ranger's Glossy Accents.
The year numbers are from the Typography sticker sheet. They were cut with decorative edge scissors and then mounted on black cardstock.
After finishing the frame, Nancy N suggested we add the Typography numbers down one edge of the frame.
This is the inside of the flip. Each page will make-up a different month. 12 sides = 12 months. The numbers are from the same Sizzix die for Echo Park. It's called *Note To Self* and is Number 659114. It's pretty cool. The month dies are from Gina's Designs.
This is my January. Nancy N, Judy and Timi went to CHA. I didn't go so I did a simple January page. They added a photo of them at CHA.
Our January outing was a Christmas gift to all of us from Judy. She gave us tickets to see Jersey Boys at The Fox Theatre. WOW!!!! We loved it. I used the number 5 because our seats were 5 rows from the stage. Such a great day. We ended this day with a later lunch at Anthenino's on The Hill.
This is definitely a work in progress with plans for our March outing.
Stay tuned!
Love it Nancy! Just beautiful and so creative!
