It's January 1 and that means there's a new challenge up on the Mini Album Makers Challenge blog. Enter your mini-album for a chance to win a fabulous prize from this month's sponsor:
Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts has created a new folio that is easily assembled. It comes with pre-cut, pre-scored chipboard pieces that create a 6.5" square folio. The photo below shows 2 of the pieces: the main folio and a belly band. Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts recommends using a wide angled Sharpie to go around all the edges of the chipboard, saving a bit on cardstock. This photo shows the edges already painted with the black Sharpie.
Referencing the photo above, fold the far right chipboard on the score lines to create a side pocket. Adhere the tabs to the base with adhesive.
Included with the folio kit is a booklet that will be assembled and slid into the pocket created above. This booklet has 2 pieces: one piece has a wider center spine. Using wet glue, adhere the skinnier spine on top of the wider spine, centering from side-to-side. Let dry thoroughly before turning any pages.
Now it's time to decorate. I used a 6x6 paper pad from Mintay by Karola. This paper pad is called Dear Diary. For the cover, I found another piece I loved from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts called Scribble Frame Birds.
With a bit of acrylic paint, the frame & birds were painted and micro-beads added along with a nest of sorts.
Swing the nest open and you'll see the inside cover. I left this panel flat so that the cover lays flat, adding a few stickles on the light.
After opening the square cover to the right, I've created a flip-fold: one to the top; one to the bottom; one to the side.
The edges of the flip were cut with a decorative edge for more interest with added photo mats:
I kept the edges die-cut from the flips and created a tiny pocket:
This is the last panel in the folio. The right side is a pocket that will hold the 8 page booklet.
Here the pocket is shown with the booklet inserted:
The inserted booklet cover . . .
and inside pages:
The vertical belly band is the one that comes with the Gypsy Soul kit. I decided to use mine inside the booklet. But you can certainly use yours on one of the main booklet panels. On the right side, I've used another cast-off from the die cut flips as an inverted pocket.
